My name is Debbie Hernandez and I am the founder and executive director of the nonprofit, Jason's Getaway. For 21 years I taught adults and children with mild to profound special needs in North Carolina (until retiring in June 2014). I worked as an Alternative Family Living and respite provider for over 23 years until Jason unexpectedly passed away on December 7, 2020. He served as the namesake for this nonprofit. This nonprofit is totally inspired by God. While teaching I saw that families who have children with special needs needed a safe and affordable place to getaway from their stressful lives.
We have myself and/or my caretaker family always on site to assist, answer questions, and keep our guests safe.
