For 21 years I taught adults and children with mild to profound special needs in North Carolina (until retiring in June 2014). Also, I have worked as an Alternative Family Living and respite provider for over 22 years. Currently, we have Jason living with my family. He served as the namesake for this nonprofit. I am the founder and currently the executive director. This nonprofit is totally inspired by God. While teaching I saw that families who have children with special needs needed a safe and affordable place to vacation.
Our nonprofit can accommodate 12 guests. Activities available are crafts, play room, s’mores around the outdoor fire pit, rocking chairs and swings on the wrap around porch, an outdoor blackboard, cargo net, Burma bridge and logs to climb, sandbox, disc swing, and 5 acres of yard to explore. Outdoor activities nearby for the families to participate in, if they choose, include Lake James state parks, Mt. Mitchell State Park, Old Fort museum and train depot, geysers, Blue Ridge Parkway, local wineries, Orchard at Altapass, waterfalls, and Linville Caverns.
Check-in is after 2:00 and check-out is at noon. Payment can be made by making a donation through PayPal, cash upon arrival or a check.
